Thread: Agency underpayment? pls advice

I got a job through my agency for a 6 months contract, I started 5 weeks ago, I've just seen their invoice and realized that they are charging my employer £24.67/hr exclusive of vat, whereas I'm being paid £18.00/hr ! I'm registered as a limited coy contractor hence not on PAYE.... which means they don't pay my N.I nor TAX .. am I being underpaid ? if so, how do I address this ? pls help !

Thats how agencies make their money,they will always be getting more than you

thanks for your reply, I understand they'll also make commission , I've worked in an agency in d past as a payroll assistant and the average margin charge for PAYE employee was £3.00/hr, but is £6.67/hr Margin fair on ltd rates ?

Brutally, it has nothing whatsoever to do with you.

You have agreed a rate with the agency; what they charge out to the client is entirely their business,.

Well,ask them for a rise,ya might get it

Thanx all for your replies... I feel cheated bcos my last rate was £22.00/hr, and I feel underpaid now, d client knew d amt of work I'd b doing for agreeing to that charge ! £20.00/hr would be quite fair ... d point is how do I put this forward without mentioning that I saw tha CHARGE RATE ?

Obviously I don't know what work you do but do you have an idea what the going rate is for your role? Presumably you were happy with the rate when you agreed to undertake the work?
