Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Dear all....firstly let me start by saying that, after such an economically gloomy day, this website is a real ray of sunshine for ordinary people.
Anyway, nitty gritty time. Im no good at organising paperwork. Full stop. I wrote to 5/6 banks when I was struggling 2 years ago. One was Egg. I asked for my credit agreement. They gladly sent it - the only which did. They sent the original one from 2000 for my credit card and when I got into difficulty, I took out a consolidation loan for around £8k so have a new one for that.
Firstly, the loan arose as a result of hardship and difficulty on my card. I defaulted on the loan as the payments were huge and they were pressuring me to make larger payments after evaluating my finances. I was young and stupid and lost track of the importance of paying on time etc.
So - I now have Scotcall sending me a letter saying that unless I pay the now £9k+ they will send a doorstep collector!!?? Politically correct language Im sure.... anyway Im sure they wont do this but it's surely threatening language to scare?
Which credit agreement am I bound by? The newer one I presume. But this only arose out of the first one being consolidated. Im also presuming they wanted to close their old accounts to be bound by newer terms? But they are then DUPING people. Its sooo confusing. I need a solicitor......
