Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Just wondering if anyone else with Egg issues has been contacted (PESTERED!) by phone calls from the number 01332 257021?
After having many silent/hangup calls from this number I checked it out online. Came up as a company called MAS (mortgage Advice Services). The address...Pride Park, Derby (although different Postcode to Egg).
Hmmm.
I don't normally speak to lower species, but armed with the knowledge of who they are I answered a couple of days ago. Finally got a live one, who asked for me by name. I didn't confirm, just said "Who is this?" and he continued quite aggressively to get me to confirm who I was. I told him my name was irrelevant, what was relevant was that this number had made several nuisance calls to a private ex directory number, told him the name of his Company and said I would be reporting them for telephone harrassment. He went, huffily.
Now what struck me was first that he had my name, and secondly his forceful attitude. Not your typical unctuous cold caller. More like a DCA.
If it's a one off coincidence fair enough, but it also struck me that if other Egg customers were getting these calls..maybe there's someone leaking personal data to these cowboys to try and get people to remortgage and pay off Egg...??
If you stand outside eggs offices and look across the road you can see mas,
they are quite a big concern in the remortgage market but are going through a very sticky patch at the moment. Their telesales can be quite forceful and I bet they are under a lot of pressure just lately to meet their targets. They aren't a DCA but I do know they buy mailing lists, wonder where from.
Hi, Thanks CDS, it just un-nerved me how they had my name, and how aggressive he was. It certainly smacks of illicit selling of data of people who may be "in the market" for remortgages to me.
I have just had a call from an arogant lady from this company who when I said I didn't have time to speak to her she asked if I had a bad day and was very nasty on the phone, I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me she was one...
does anyone know who you can complain to, or should I just knock on the door..
