    Exclamation Next Directory Annoyance.

All I wanted was a cowboy hat for a fancy dress and I saw the perfect one on the Next website. So I ordered it, not knowing what I was letting myself into.

Honestly, I must admit I wasn't reading everything entirely, I thought Next would be like every normal, pay upfront, website. The next thing I knew it had said my order has been shipped before I had paid for it. I had become a 'next directory member'. They haven't sent me any account details, all I want to do is pay for the product and thats that.

Can anyone help me? How long does it take for me to be charged?
And can you explain to me what the next directory is? And most importantly does it only charge for the product - or does it charge to keep the account active?! ALSO, when do I get this 'account number' to sign in?
AND HOW DO I CANCEL IT?!

    Thanks - an annoyed customer.

it keeps an account active and they charge you nearly 4 quid every so often for a bloody catelog as well, they did the same to me tbh

simplybe is another one that has done this to me as well (minus teh catelogue charge) and the silly people STILL opened an account (un-requested) for me even when I DIDNT sign and send back the credit agreement!

    am cancelling both tbh asap

Seriously?! I am so annoyed. You even have to pay a heap to cancel the account over the phone..

How long did they take to send the credit agreement to you? Cause that is going straight for the bin.

I cant remember how long it took however last night it took 7 mins and cost 35pence in phone callsicon to cancel the account and they didnt try to talk me out of it either which is a good thing as I was ready to explode

if you DO accept the account and ask that a catalogue be sent you cant cancel the catelogue online you have to ring to do it

You will need to look carefully at the T&Cs of the website. Many catalogue customers complain that they have had an account opened for them when they just wanted to make a one-off purchase. Alas, the companies do not make it very clear.

Best thing is to call customer services and ask them to cancel under Distant Selling Regs. They have probably not gerenated an account number as yet, and if JD Williams is anything to go by, they will no tell you what the number is over the phone.
