Quick question re. this thread.....I'm a little confused, Vanquis charge £12 for a late payment & £12 for exceeding the credit limit....other forums have suggested that these charges are within OFT guidelines, so is there any realistic chance of getting these charges refunded?...

Well that's what I intend to find out but I know some people have been claiming all their charges back - I am about to do this with Crap One so we will see!
1 - I don't know about Vanquis as such, but since there isn't a single credit card company which has managed to successfully not pay back the charges, I don't see why they should be any different!
2 - The OFT never said that £12 was a fair or acceptable amount, they said it was a threshold at which they themselves would intervene, but they also said that only a court could decide what was a fair or unfair level. The CC companies have of course used this to try and browbeat their customers into accepting the £12 as legit, but anyone who has held out for the full £20 or whatever they were charged got their money back. ;-)
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
Right I have decided to give it a go and see if (a) they totally ignore my letter and (b) to see if they totally ignore my letter!
Can someone point me in the direction of the credit card charges refund template letter please as I only have the one that relates to bank charges - or am I using the same one (thick moment here!) thanks
I am writing to ask you to refund to me the late payment fees and exceeded limit fees which you have levied on my account since xxxxx, amounting to a total of xxxx, plus the interest you levied on those charges at xxx % APR, which amount to £xxx, total requested for refund: £ XXXX.
I am fully aware that the fees which you have been applying to my account are unlawful at Common Law, Statute and recent Consumer regulations. Should you wish to argue that they are not, then you will pleased to demonstrate this by letting me have a full Breakdown of the costs to which you have been put by as a result of my breach, in order to reassure me that your penalties really do reflect your costs.
It is my duty to remind you that failure to refund the charge to my account will result in my issuing a county court Claim. If I have to do that, you will then become liable for my court fee of £ xxx and statutory 8% APR. I truly hope this does not have to happen and that you will refund the charges without need for further action on my behalf.
Yours sincerely
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
Today I received a letter offering me £132 in full refund of charges (which is correct) plus associated interest totalling £164.88. I do not think that the associated interest is correct if I work out the monthly interest they are charging x the days since I paid it but to get this out of them has to be something in itself!
So for everyone out there in the same position PLEASE give it a go as it worked for me!

I sent a letter off to Vanquis last week to ask for details of my charges (not an actual refund yet) and they responded v quickly, had my response within two days. However, they say they have looked at my charges and they think they are appropriate and lawful.
They then offered me a refund but only if I take advantage of their £25 a year account deal which has 54.9% interest rate and 59% cash interest, which doesn't sound too great to be honest.
Should I write back and ask for a detailed list of charges? Any advice on what to do next? I should say that I don't even use the damn card, and have been trying to pay the bloody thing off for over a year now!
I wrote to them using the standard letter requesting all my refunds back, I received a holding letter and then a week or two later received a Full and final offer of settlement funnily enough have received my statement today and have again been charged grrrrr!!!!
Did you send them the refund letter or a letter which you wrote?
