Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I used BH because I couldn't get credit anywhere else as I had a low score credit rating so i was advised by a friend to buy something on HP to build my credit score up (I was originally trying to get finance for a caravan but couldn't cos i had a clean slate how laughable) so i got a package deal of white goods. My self and my husband had good paid jobs and Brighthouse couldn't do enough for us offering us everything we bought our sons a PS3, new mobiles etc and then treated ourselves to a really large posh TV by this time some things were paid off and we were always talked into buying more products at the moment our bill is nearly £40 a week which we have always paid on time. In January this year my husband was laid off from work so our finances were cut down by more than half at first we maintained our account for a while and now and then had to miss the odd week thats when the tables turned and they turned into the company from hell treating us like criminals. I stood up to them (I am not soft) so i thought they were helping me by giving me a new contract without telling us we would be back to square one and no mention of the hundreds of pounds they have had off us (I wish i would have found this forum first) and now i am 3 weeks behind as i get paid monthly and they are like vultures trying to take back our TV that i have paid 2 thirds off, i can't find my original contract I have asked for a copy and keep getting fobbed off cos i have now signed a new agreement they knock on my door, phone my mobile i have not given them my land line thank god, lucky for me my youngest child is a 14 year old boy who is 6 ft tall (youngest of 5 boys) and we don't get intimidated easily (like some people with young children). We feel like all our rights have been taken away from us we are good honest people and I feel BH are trying to destry our good name all i asked them for was a little bit of time to sort ourselves out,my husband calls them legal gangsters we don't know which way to turn any advise will be wecome.
I don't know a lot about BH, but I know they can't take your goods so don't panic. The only way they can enter your home to remove them is through a court, and you would have plenty of warning before this.
The other thing I should say is that BH won't be building up your cresit score, unfortunately as they don't keep a file with the CRAs.
That was one of the questions I first asked BH when I was being interviewed for a Manager position.
Bottom line is, you have to subscribe, therefore pay money, to add details to CRA's. And BH like to "roll" in their profits far too much to waste any on something that isn't going to benefit them!
Unfortunately this is yet another case of BH "loading" their customers to breaking point. They know the analogy of "the last straw to break the camel's back" too well, and exploit it at every opportunity. Why? Simple really, because it will then mean that they have you where they want you. They want to control you, or at least give you the impression that they do control you. BUT, they don't, you control your finances and if they push you to breaking point and your circumstances channge, then more fool them.
You are going through a tough time Scorpio09, but so are a lot of people, and the best way you can deal with this situation, is to carry on the way you are. Pay what you can when you can. Don't fall for there bully boy tactics.
I do think you need to tear your house apart to see if you can find your original credit agreements though. It sounds like you had a re-write, and if they have just signed you up for a new term without working into the new agreement the time you have already paid for, then they have broken the law. It is difficult to prove if you can't find them, but if you have receipts for your weekly payments, you also have the original account number. This means you can send a Subject access request, which costs £10, but legally, BH then have to provide you with a full detailled Breakdown, meaning you will have all the information you need.
Meanwhile, don't let them grind you down, play your face, get your late fees taken off, go into the store in numbers, when it's busy, create a scene! YOU ARE THEIR CUSTOMER!! Without customers, they wouldn't exist.

Thanks Plumberjon and Sol for your advice it has been really helpful i just can't believe so many people have fallen fowl to BH. I have already made scenes in BH as they seem to employ such a lot of little people with big mouths that proberbly wouldn't get a job anywhere else (i'm not speaking about all BH staff as i have had dealings with some really nice well educated members over the time i have been with them) nice staff don't seem to stay around for long. I am going to keep offering what i can over the phone so i can record my conversations with them as i am aware they will refuse and also get my OSC removed and see where that gets me, as for Bully Boy Tactics it won't work with me i have a large family of males i'd like to see them get past first my husband then my sons, its my rights that i am uncertain about this forum is fantastic.
