Hi everyone, i'm still waiting to receive my statements.
However, I wanted to know if I can claim back the £15 service charge.
Or if they can bypass paying back this charge.
Have others added this too their schedule when claiming back charges?
Have they provided a service, or have they penalised you for something like going above your overdraft limit? If a service you can't claim, if it's a penalty you can. Have you agreed to pay £15 for a service?
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
Should you be offered help that requires payment please report it to site team.

Very good point, although they call it a "service" charge, I certainly haven't received any service benefits from it and I never agreed to paying it either. Instead it has just made me go overdrawn. These bank charges are a joke. I will never bank with smile/cooperative again.
My main account is with Lloyds TSB and I have had no problems with them, they have even waived the odd charge, that's far better service.
I received an email asking me to call them. This sent a red flag up in my brain. I had £4 something in my account which I havent even accessed pr used for 3 or 4 months. When I checked I find they have charged me £20 x 3
putting me 56 quid overdrawn I have just sent them an email demanding they closed the account and do whatever they saw fit to try to get the 60 quid. I toldthem they would get sod all off me.
hi,
I have had 'service charges' put on my account as they call penalties - online complaint never led to anything but letters to Coop Bank Customer Relations always have - it is sad that they keep trying to con people, but do write with reference to courts having ruled in principle that charges are excessive and especially re smile that they do not even send out letters or do anything else that might justify extra charges - for example they wanted me to reduce my o/d and made an agreement which I was put in charge of monitoring and they still put a 'service charge' on the renewal which I successfully complained about!
Good luck!
My abrupt, direct and almost rude email did the trick. I got an email back confirming charges returned and account closed.
I dont give a damn about banks collapsing with this crunch..they can all go to hell. I have a garden I can grow food in. I am really past caring about the [problem]s and rip offs the institutions try on. No more
