    Default Who is responsible ?

    Here's the scenario:
Council House - only OH's name on the rent book as it was hers before I moved in. The Council Tax Bill was always sent to her and addressed to her.
Now, since she applied for a rebate due to my ill health, my name has suddenly appeared on the bill.
So if I am still not named on the rent agreement how come the council have suddenly decided that I am liable for the Council Tax ?
Just seems strange that it took an application for Council Tax reduction before my name appeared.
    Any ideas why ?

Hi its simply how its done, as you reside at the property you have a a council tax liability so therefore you are included in the bill.

But, unless you marry your partner, you DO NOT have any right or claim to her Council tenancy, unless she chooses to make you a jont tenant!
