It depends largely on what you mean by "appeal". If you have asked that the decision to be looked at again by a decision maker, it is not an appeal as in appeal tribunal. If it is an actual appeal, and is going ahead to tribunal, indicators of delay for appeal cases is 9 months. although cases are normally cleared far sooner than that:
If you completed a form called a GL24, what will happen is the decision will usually be reconsidered initially by DWP, to see if they are able to revise the decision. If they can revise the decision, they will do so, and your appeal will lapse. If they are unable to revise the decision, the case will go ahead to tribunal.
