Hello people, this is my first post on this fab forum!!
I received my statements from the Halifax yesterday, all 82 pages of it!! As my father (aka daveywoo) said, I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have to pay the £5 for the privalige
So...I have just completed the charges spreadsheet and they owe me £582.00 plus an extra £120.59 in interest.
Well off I skip to the post office to post the letter (recorded) watch this space.........
Are you sending an lba or a preli. We recommend prelim first.
Please don't pm me about specific questions unless you have posted and it has not been dealt with or unless the matter is confidential. Please include a link to the post you want me to look at. If you have received a defence, contact me.

Thanks Bankfodder, Have just printed the prelim letter and will send off today. Having just read the thread on interest charged, I am a little confused. My account with the Halifax is a Cardcash account which does not have an overdraft facility, where it states on the prelim letter 'overdraft interest', am i right in thinking this will not apply to me.
Well today I have received a standard reply to the prelim letter i sent on 20th March. It said the usual, 'sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the service' etc, and they are investigating my complaint and I will receive a full response shortly.
As today is day 15 I now intend to send the lba off, with another 14day deadline.
The postmark on the envelope says Glasgow, the letter heading gives a PO Box in Leeds, should I still post it to Trinity Road?
Also, Kathleen Power is the signature on the letter.
I'm at the same stage as you and also had a choice of destinations to send my lba to. My prelim went to my bank manager, he replied saying he'd passed on my complaint to a customer realtions manager at the Leeds office. I then got a letter from a different person at the Leeds office saying she'd get someone else to get back to me in under 4 weeks!!?? I was advised to send my LBA to my bank manager, so I did today. Halifax has 14 days to pay up or I move proceedings onto the next level. All the best and keep going!
The lady explained to me that she had looked through my account and could see that the charges were correctly added as per the t&c's of my account, ahem, BUT on this occasion she was prepared to offer me a £98 refund!!
I very kindly declined her offer so she then increased it to £195 (which she said was the maximum she could offer me). Again I declined her offer and told her that I was looking for the FULL amount to be refunded and that I was prepared to take it as far as I needed in order to get it!!
So she will send me a letter to confirm what we had spoken about.
Looks like I will be off to the court on 19th April then

This particular day I was in hospital having emergency surgery so, when my husband told me the money was in our account it gave me more insentive to get better so i could go on a spending spree
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to this fantastic site, and urge everyone to pursue their claims.
