Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hello all, just wondered if anyone knows this company?
We have received a charge certificate for going through a road toll, one that was so badly signposted that we didn't realise it was there until it was too late and have received a £30+ fine through this company.
We were in Europe in a non EU country.
They also sent it to our old address so is already late for payment.
They have sent a photo of the number plate and the bonnet but don't these things have to show the driver?
I have no doubt I will have to pay it but just wondered what anyone thought.
How do you mean you went through a toll road? At the toll's in France you have to stop or drive through the barrier. Not questioning you - just interested as I have started driving in Europe and have not come across a case like this before.

In Austria you don't - NO toll barriers, just cameras. If you don;t display a valid disc, you get a fine in the post. Austria is of course in the EC, but for a non-EC country, they are not enforceable.
Ah ok, I see - so I guess they use ANPR like they do here sometimes for waiting in a yellow box - that sort of thing. Well worth knowing though - thank you. Honestly, you've got to be so careful haven't you - as you could easily make a mistake when driving abroad.

The toll had no barrier and we didn't see any signs at all, it
was just as we went through it that we realised but it was too late by then. Going the other way, at the same place, it was well signposted so we paid.
I found a tourist web site about driving in Norway and it stated that fines were dished out by EPC so I think they must be doing it with the approval of the Norwegian authorities.

just to clarity, its not anpr , that system can only be used by law enf agencies.
it will be a cctv op in this case viewing the footage.

You are correct in that yellow box, DPE moving contraventions and parking are detected using CCTV.
However, ANPR can be used by anybody - the issue is the underlying database. I know of somebody who uses ANPR detection to open their electric gates (as opposed to a transmitter). I have also used car parks (West Quay, Southampton) that uses ANPR to add the registration number to the parking ticket at the barrier.
