    Default Salary and CTC/WTC

    Can anyone tell me please??

I have to use my car for my job and my company reimburse my petrol through my wages. Can I take this off my salary when renewing my Tax Credit claim?

    Thanks

The answer is no. And if you earn over the official figure you will be taxed on it too (eventually). I got paid above the rate by my employers so I have 1st hand knowledge of this. Sorry.

If my advice has been helpful tip the scales

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm sure I read somewhere that mileage was deductable, I'm probably wrong.

I found this Income: employment income rules - Specific payments and benefits in kind excluded from employment income for tax credit purposes.

As I'm not hot on all this terminology maybe someone could decipher it for me? Does it say mileage is deductable or not?

    Thanks

When renewing your tax credit claim you will need to take this into account i believe.

My understanding is that it is classed as a Benefit In Kind, so you're company should provide you with either a P9D or a P11D at the end of the tax year (it's like a P60 but has the details of the benefit you got through the company), this will have the amount you received. When renewing your claim i would say call up and do it, you can then double check with the agent you speak to.

    Hope this helps.
