    Question child tax credit and dla

    hi guys my child tax credit has gone up due to get dla for my child i know the hb/cb people take child tax credit into account but as dla nd jsa is not an income would that be the only income they take into account?i done a calculation and put in what we are getting and it comes back no rent or council tax my daughter is getting an element of low rate and middle dla all im wondering will i have to pay rent and council tax?.

    You would be entitled to the disibility premium on the ctc. Are you getting the 'underlying entitlement' to CA. This would give you the premium (adding to the amount of money the government says you need to live on) but not the CA income. I am assuming you mean the middle-rate care DLA. If you are getting low-rate care dla you can't claim CA. Mobility DLA is not counted at all.

    If you are getting CA this would be taken into account. Back at work Tuesday so will try and rmember to to ask about this for you.

    Thanks for ur reply my wife got a letter about CA the letter said she is entitled to it but not how much. They said they have to get in touch with the benefits agency first because i get JSA

    Have you tried a chat with your local council welfare rights adviser? They should be able to clear up all of this for you.
