    Default JSA claiming back charges

    Hi

Around october last year i lost my job and started claiming JSA, i started to leave the money in the bank and not touch it so that i would be safe with all my bills, after around 3 months i was got some serious charges to the tune of £200 this was the first id heard of the charges as i hadent recived any bank statments for over 2 months, so i looked into it and found the job centre had stopped paying me in november and i was at the end of january.

So i asked the job centre why they wernt paying me even though i was signing on every 2 weeks on time and found out they had an address for me in london and that person was claiming working tax credit on my NINO so i got it sorted and they payed me back all the JSA i was owed and told me not to put it in the bank because they would just swallow it all, so i payed back the bills i owed and the banks charges are getting payed back with the aid of a unplanned overdrafticon, but after losing nearly 3 months JSA now im having to pay back over £400 in charges that bank hit me with and i am getting back to square one with the bills, ive started a claim with the jobcentre to get back these charges as the bank have said no way, ive sent all the bank statments over the period that it happend ( which i had to pay for as the bank dident send them to me) i had them photocopyed and signed by a member of the jobcentre and with a written letter i sent them off, so they "lost" the first set so i sent a second copy and after 3 weeks still havent heard anything.

Am i doing somthing wrong here please somone give me some advice on what to do.

I doubt the JC give a stuff, and who cares what the bank say! They are pathetic, moral and business are two different extremes (shouldn't be, and years ago it wasn't...but that's the way it is today)

The bank are currently paying themselves with mickey mouse money, but could be a problem down the road with equally moronic DCAicon's so I would be following the correct channels, and trying to avoid negative data imposed by the banks on your credit record.

Open up a parachute accounticon elsewhere and conduct your financial matters afresh with new bank.

Start a claim to reclaim your charges, will advise further if you need help.

Or if you don't believe that the jobcentre staff don't care....

The payments should have been made by the jobcentre and they agree with that which is why they have backdated the money.

You have done right in itemising the bank charges and sending them a letter but this isn't something that happens regularly so it may take some time to reply. They have 4 weeks to reply. If they haven't replied by then then contact the processing office.

Compensation cases can take some time but you have a case and overall decisions can be made by regional offices.

You are doing nothing wrong. Keep pressing.
