hi there, i have seen something on here about this parking fine company but i'm not sure where to go from here, can anyone help?!!
The company is UK PAO LTD, Pudsey Leeds.
My mum went shopping into Grimsby today and parked in Alexandra Retail park. it it the carpark on your right as you drive in, she parked in there because she is a crap driver at the best of times and likes to park her car so she drives into a space and drives straght out to aviod the other cars!!
She was less than the allowed times, which i think is 2 hours. when she returned to her car she had a parking fine on her window. the ticket read,
ticket issued 12.40.
time first observed 12.20, reason for this issue, without a valid permit or authority, observed walk off 1 hour site.
Required to pay £60 fee within 10days.
i'm not really sure where to go from here and if there is anything i can do? Mum is quite upset over this and in the present climate she doesn't really want to be paying a £60 parking ticket!!
Your help and advice would be much appriciated,
Thanks Susanne.
Basically, it is NOT a fine.
It is an invoice...... which they cannot enforce.
Basic advice is just ignore it. Keep the ticket and any subsequent correspondence that you receive, as evidence should they be silly enough to try and pursue it.
You will probably receive a few letters, but eventually they will give up and chase an easier target.
If you want to be a little more active with it, look at the template letters in the "stickies" at the top of the Parking Forum.

ok thanks for that, but i am quite worried about leaving it, they say if its not paid within 7 days it will go up by £3 a day and could take mum to court or send the baylifts round.

.....which is exactly what they want you to think, to frighten you into paying.
As I said, if you feel that you must do something, check out the letter templates in the link.
If you want to verify the suggested responses, have a read of some of the threads in this forum.

90girl. as you sound generally unsure about this situation, I woud strongly recommend you do not use any template letters or letters of any kind as you may well put something in a letter that you may later regret.
If you take the "ignore" route, then you cannot say anything out of step because you're saying nothing at all!
Ignore is definately the best course of action in your situation I believe.

Hi. Ignore UK PAO. Thier just a PPC operating the usual [problem]. Baliffs will only enter the fray if you get taken to court (you wont), get judged against and then do not pay. The wording in the letters is there to bully/scare people into paying and is often fraudulent at best. If you do a search on here regarding UK PAO (or any other PPC) youll see where im coming from.
Ignore them and keep us updated

I would advise your mum NOT to pay; this Company obviously uses terror tactics to frighten people into paying up. And their claim has dubious merit in law. Why? Well, perhaps they could argue there was a contract but a court would be looking at the level of damages claimed and in this instance a highly unreasonable oppressive amount is being made. Also, they would have to prove that the part of the Notice that mentioned the prohibition on leaving the car park was sufficiently prominent .
