Angry How many mistakes do the banks make?

I used my debit card for £62:70 in M&S on Thursday 20th July. It was declined. The assistant apologised saying she had removed my card too soon.. I put it in again and it was accepted. Being an old cynic I checked my balance the next day and the amount had been taken off twice. I phoned A&L who said it was being presented twice but they would reverse one payment. However, if M&S presented twice it would be paid and I would be liable for any charges if taken overdrawn. I then phoned M&S who took two hours to check and phoned me back to assure me it had only gone through once. Sure enough my statement is showing the transaction only went through once, although for two days my account was debited with £125:40 instead of £62:70. Bank don't make mistakes???? Would reporting to the banking Ombudsmanicon be in order here?

I believe that you need to exhaust a banks complaints procedure before going to the Ombudsmanicon, so you need to make an official complaint first, and check the procedure.

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
