Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've been doing a bit of searching before launching a PPI claim against Barclaycard.
I've searched the Internet but can't find a single successful reclaim, anybody know different.

HSBC - Settlement, goodwill no admission of liability about 75% of claim.
RBS - Settlement, goodwill no admission of liability about 70% of claim.
2 ongoing claims for bank charges with HSBC with more to come. (Supreme Court ruling could have upset these claims) They did
PPI Successes
PPI 4 settlements on 9 loans. FOS involvement on 7 added on the 8 % Statutory interest another 30% to both.
2 claims settled in full with LV without FOS involvement.
2 claims settled in full with HSBC without FOS involvement
PPI Claims ongoing with:
Cap one Now with the FOS
Barclays. Paid up today 24/04/10 cheque received for over £4,500 and in the bank.
LTSB still have to decide on this as their SAR production was abysmal. Papers data mixed up documents missing etc
Please do not PM me for advice as it may be sometime before I can respond.
Keep at them. Do not give way and do not accept all they tell you, they will delay and stall for as long as they can to prevent repaying you your mis-sold PPI.
This will be a tough one I think, complete blank so far in finding successful claims.
I tried use contractual interest spreadsheet last night, sure I got something wrong- example Jan '02 PPI payment £54 interest @ 24.9% = something like £257.

Given up on trying to do a contractual spready, will just go for PPI payments made plus 8%, after all time slipping by and want to get this one in.
I only have statements from Oct 2002 to Oct 2008 (good old Barclaycard!), I am 100% sure I didnt ask for ppi and fairly sure it wasnt optional when I opened the account, I've always been self employed, apart from being a squaddie in the 70's.
Now, due to the hours that I worked at that period OH paid BC on my behalf, when I found out just how much this ppi was costing me I managed to it cancelled (2004), I am sure Ive read somewhere on a BC ppi post that after cancelling ppi the payments should be returned.
The LIMITED information provided to me following my complaint that BC have failed to comply with my SAR, there is an entry concerning the ppi was states "INSURANCE CANCELLATION 05 05 = DIDN'T REQ IT"
Surely such an entry makes it game over - send me my cheque - well thats my theory anyway.

I do not think you would get any premiums you have paid returned automatically on cancellation. You will still have to complain the PPI was mis-sold to get a result IMO.

Dashed my hope now - thought after finding that comment that PPI wasn't required it was game, set & match.
Sorry wishful thinking on my part

Would that REQ be Request? or Require? IMO either or but Request would be better. You could always write another letter and ask for a Breakdown, in fact when they respond to a SAR they should enclose a sheet of banking abbreviations and terms explaining to you exactly what they are Not got one there is another reason for another letter they cannot expect you to be familiar with all of their banking terms
If you have this in black and white or colour then it could still be game set and match if the fos get to see it but Still bang in a claim for mis-selling.

Just been through pages and pages of computer printouts codes & abbreviations which BC sent me as part of my SAR.
Got insurance start date and cancellation date then lists the following
05 = DIDN'T REQ IT
A CODE TO SPECIFY THE REASON FOR THE CANCELLATION OF INSURANCE COVERAGE
Get the claim in & see what they fire back with - Fingers crossed, hopefully a quick final response so that I can send it to the fos inc. printout as above.
Send me the figures, date of agreement, end date of loan and the apr and ill do you a spready for this i had to do 9 in total for me so am a dab hand at it now also include an email address so i can sent it to you.

Hi PF,
That would be brill if you could, after the sheer hell that I 'm going through with BC & Mercers I'd like to squeeze every penny out of them!
If your sure you wouldnt mind helping me out I'll pm details later (Visa & Master) just wish I paid more attention in school (used slates to write on in my school days
Hi Beachy - just seen this thread -
I'm in the process of reclaiming my PPI from B/Card -
I have exactly the same narrative on my data sheets, unfortunately they didn't cancel mine and I'm still paying over 12 months later.
I've already had my initial bog-off letter from B/Card now they're fobbing me off with questionnaires.
Go for it - on the bright side you may just get your money back and on the down side you'll be out of pocket with postage.
Wils
Hi Wils,
Thanks for the support, I know it wont be easy dealing with BC over this, they wont provide all statements and totally ignoring my cca request - keep sending T&C's trying to fool me me thinks! Complaint gone off to the ICO to try and get remaing information but I feel its going to end up taking them to court in order to get it.

Actually, got upgraded from slate to ink well & quill but found the girl in front of me's pony tail better
Remember the ink well well porcelain removable in a little sunken hole in the desktop. Removable meant it could actually be thrown, or catapulted on the end of a ruler
So I have heard
