Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
My ex girlfriend left sky and spoke to BT
they sold her the BT vision package
It all arrived on 27 March 2009
Cut a long story its no good for her, simply a freeview box that costs here £18 a month, worryingly is anything you want to watch realy will cost per viewing
The box isnt modern at all it comes with 2 big plugs that transmit the signal to the hub
Its confusing as shes never had it she ordered extra channels like kids chanell that had Disney channels and cartoons
Whe it came however you dont get the Disney chanels etc just a few old programes previously shown on Disney channel
We rung BT in hours to cancel and told too late your in contract
When she agread to the system looking ack they made her wait 2 weeks for the box, so she cant cancel
I argue the cancelation should start when she recieves the goods and can examine them
Are they right ?
according to their t and c's you were not too late

Ah, BT Vision. Avoid it like the plague is what i say. I had been a BT customer for phone and broadband for two years, it became overpriced so i called to cancel and they offered me BT Vision box, new Home Hub and first 3 months free to convince me to stay. Now the only thing i'd want BT Vision for is Setanta Sports (see my comment in the "Me V Setanta" thread) as i cant receive Setanta Sports where i am. I said to BT over the phone it's only any use to me if the signal for it comes down the Broadband Line, and not down the ariel. I was assured multiple times categorically that the signal comes down the Broadband line and would work fine.
So on the basis of that i took up the deal, received the box, set it all up with the viewing card etc, 3 hours on and the Setanta still looked like a stuck YouTube picture, so i phoned them up to complain, i said i was told the signal would come down the broadband and the salesman said to me "well it doesnt, it comes down the ariel." And that was just the last straw.
Or so you'd think. I was out of contract with the Broadband and i then cancelled everything BT related in my house cos they'd lied to me too many times now and i'd got sick of them, constantly lying about absolutely everything. So i turned all BT items off, to later receive a phone call demanding i pay up an 18 month contract for the broadband all in one go, because they gave me a new Hub with the Vision.
I found this absolutely ridiculous, they felt me taking it entered me into another 18 month deal on Broadband, which was never said to me when they sold it to me. And regardless of that, the deal was taken out on the basis that Setanta comes down the Broadband line, which it doesnt, so their lie makes any contract they think they had void as far as im concerned.
They keep chasing me for their payment but they're never going to get it. They've had it explained in no uncertain terms that they can shove it up their arse, and the next time they speak to me will be in court if they want to take it that far, and even then im not paying them.
I went with Sky after this for my Broadband and Phone, as ive had SkyTV for 5 years and never had a problem. And they've been great. They've done exactly what i asked them to do. Very simple isnt it?
BT's retentions department take the stance that what you are paying for with bt vision is the VOD services (i.e. the on-demand tv programmes/music videos/etc) & that the freeview digital tv part of it is a sort of free extra bit to the system. Therefore, what you are paying BT for is the VOD content.
Seriously, you wouldnt believe the amount of complaints this vission service gets. It uses your broadband connection for all the packages so it slows your internet down and lets be honest its not all that fast to start with with BT. Then you do not get any actual channels you get selected programmes from the channels you select on your package, also you do need a normal ariel to get the freeview channels. loads mofre but I will wait till ppl post their issues before answering them .
I want to go back to the energy market for a job lol.

I am in a similar situation. I have been with BT Vision since Oct 2008. The whole time I have had Vision the reception of freeview channels has been extremely poor with most of the channels not getting any signal at all and the others keep cutting out. This is not due to the area I am in etc as I have a seperate Freeview box in another room and this works fine...I have purchased several different booster ariels and still no joy. This would suggest that actually the Vbox is faulty.
BT dont accept this, I have tried to cancel and they state that I would have to pay £25 fee plus £194 for the box.
My argument would be that although BT use the excuse that David refers to above, clearly Freeview was part of what I was offered in the contract. I would not have simply signed up for the VOD (a selection of old programmes) without having regular TV. Afterall they refer to the Freeview service in all advertising for Vision.
So I was just wondering if anybody could offer me any advice as to where I could go with this?
