Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Did you know that Honours Student Loans work for the government and consequently claim " We can do what we want"!
Well that's what they are claiming now.
Just had another telephone call from honours student loans, in fact the 5th one today and the 14th this week, they call from 8am until 9pm including Sundays.
Basically they are ringing for my son who has had really bad health problems since 2001 and is backwards and forwards to hospital, doctors etc. He deferred and sent doctors letters etc about his ill health, but as usual they aren't listening or reading for that matter and claim they haven't received them etc etc.
Now as I'm getting pretty fed up with the calls (some are very polite but most are not) I have asked them 4 times today to stop ringing my number that is in my name. One caller agreed to take the number off the system after I explained for the umpteenth time why my son could not talk to them. But they rang again!
I again asked them to desist from calling and to write to my son, not a prayer, when I insisted and told them I would block all and any numbers they used and or report them for harassment the reply was....
HSL - "We work for the government and can do what we want, when we want and you can't stop us".
Yes I can
Next comment when asked how they had got my ex directory number was...
"Your son gave us this number to contact him......."
Me - "When"?
HSL - "When he took his contract out with us"
No he didn't, he had a student loan in 1998-99 which apparently was sold to Honours some time after this and all deferments were always made through the Student Loans Co.
Me - "My reply was he couldn't have done that as my phone number didn't begin until 2005".
HSL - "Well, we work for the government and we can get your telephone number and your address and we will be sending someone around to see Mr xxxxxx".
Me - "No you won't, you have no invitation or right, implied or otherwise to come to my property".
Am I suppose to be intimidated or scared or worse? Is this a joke or what, (hahahaha) coz I'm not, just fed up with the constant calls?
So beware, Honours Students Loans work for the Government and they can do what they want (apparently)
Anyone else getting these calls, how do you deal with them?
