Thread: northern rock - any successes ?

I have a loan over 5 years with Northern Rock with PPI and i am struggling to find many if any people who have disputes with them......

anyone made a claim ????

Blue Snail, I am currently reclaiming PPI from Northern Rock.

When I took out my mortgage with them the agent told me that PPI was compulsory with the mortgage, so for five years I paid an extra £25 per month.

When the mis-seeling came to light I wrote to Northern Rock asking for my money back, they had recordings of subsequent phone calls, but mysteriously had no recording of the call in which the agent told me that the PPI was compulsory, strange that isn't it?

They tried to tell me that I must have taken out my mortgage through one of their branches and that's why they have no recording, that would be difficult as I've never even been into one of their branches. I've informed them of this, and also told them that the PPI small print would have prevented any payout anyway as I am entitled to generous redundancy terms and there is a section in the policy that syas that they will not pay out if you get a redundancy package (so what's the point of the bloody PPI then??)

Anyway, they rejected my claim and referred me to the fos, I'm writing to them one more time informing them of these points and giving them 14 days before I go to the FOS.

As for how they handle PPI complaints, Northern Rock seem very good, you receive a Customer contact and a real desk telephone number so that you can ring for updates. They did try to fob me off at first though by insisting that it was the insurance company's matter (Pinnacle Insurance), I rang them who referred me back to Northern Rock.
