Hi
I have just recieved the still photo evidence of a no u turn offence travelling north on wood lane. The photo's show my vehicle in a right turn lane and indicating turning into BBC worldwide where i realise i should actually have gone to tv centre as i work for the BBC so i turned my vehcle round on private BBC property and re joined wood lane by turning left to return to tv centre, so in my mind a u turn offence has to be carried out on the highway.
Can anyone help with the legalities of a u turn surely by leaving the highway they seriously cannot issue me a ticket, any help would be much appreciated
Was the right turn into BBC Worldwide a legal turn, and was the left turn out of the BBC also legal? Did you also execute each manouevre separately, i.e. turn right off the highway onto the private land, pause turn around then give way at the junction to execute the left turn back onto the road? If they both were, then I would maintain the offence did not occur in that by leaving the highway onto the BBC property, then returnign to the highway did not constitute a U turn.
I think so, i am indicating in a right turn lane and turn into bbc world wide and turn around on the entrance off the road and then pull back on to the road turning left heading to tv centre. the turn i made was a sort of p shape i turned round on the entry road in to the complex and i did give way when rejoining the carriageway
did you use reverse gear at any time ? a three point turn is NOT a u-turn. If not then are you sure the bit your turned on is NOT part of the carriageway ?
from the pictures i was off the road for 11 seconds and it looks as though the angle was too tight to make it one go and the angle i re joined the road looks to sharp but i couldnt say for sure
i could email you the pdf see what you think
many thanks
or can i put the pictures on here??
