Faulty LCD TV from Dixons unable to replace... my rights?
hi
I bought a 42LG7000 LCD tv from Dixons online on Christmas day. However, soon after it was delivered I noticed the screen had an internal fault. It was within 28 days from when I purchased it, so called up hoping for a repair or replacement. They told me they hadn't got the required part in stock, and they'd get back to me when they did. They have since called back to say that they are unable to get the part needed and that they cannot give me a replacement 42LG7000 since they don't have any left. So they have told me I can have a different model equivalent to the price I paid for the TV. The problem is that the TV was on sale reduced from £999 to £535.27, so a replacement TV of value £535.27 will be significantly lower spec..
I am interested in finding out my rights. I feel I should be entitled to a replacement TV set of equivalent specification, or at least my money back to go find a deal elsewhere.

Well under their own company policy, if you report the fault within 28 days you should get an exchange or your money back. Obviously they don't stock them anymore so they've offered you a repair instead assuming you wanted to keep that particular TV.
If I were you I'd request a refund and wait for another deal to crop up.
Legaly though, they can choose a remedy wether it be repair, replace or refund. If issuing you a replacement is going to cost them about £400 to match the spec, assuming your TV was £999, then it's pretty safe to say that they'd be losing money and therefor it wouldn't be finacialy feasable for them to do this.
