Question Congestion Charge - Representation letter

    Hello all.

I am new to the forum and was hoping that someone may have been or is in the similar position as I am.
I have received a Penalty Charge Notice as I was leaving the congestion zone at 07:03:27 in the morning.
I wanted to know if anyone has appealed against a similar Charge notice for such a small amount of "time breach" as in my 3min, 27seconds.

Any advice or chance that I will win my appeal with my defence of heading out of the area (Portland Place) and by my clock it was 7 exactly.

    Thank you in advance.

    Rob

Well, IMO, I think a period of grace of say 5 mins on the prescribed hours time should be a matter of course, as it is near on impossible to expect any or every time piece found in a vehicle (be it watch, mobile phoneicon or car's clock) to be keeping exact, precise and synchronised time. However I doubt such considerations are generally deemed worth bothering with by councils and governement bodies.

I'm sure someone will be on to set you straight shortly, maybe they can determine some form of error or procedural impropriety on behalf of the council.

I wish you good luck anyway

Thank you squirlyline. I am hoping that may be the case. I have heard of a 4 minute grace on a packing ticket. Am hoping it's the same case with the Congestion charge...
ugh...£60 for 3min27sec would be a kick in the privates...
