Re: Rather than kill me, I decided to kill the banks
Well done.
Make sure you maintain those payments to your loan, and if they start hounding you, tell them: "if you want more, take me to court, and see if a judge will give you more, somehow I doubt it".
Well done on telling your wife too. A supportive spouse is worth her weight in gold/diamonds/credit cards, lol. And even if she was not so supportive, the fact that she knows is one less burden and that's got to be a good thing.
Re: phone calls, you can send them all a letter telling them you want everything in writing from now on and that you do not give them permission to use your telephone number under the DPA (won't make a bit of difference, but it's all ammunition for future use). When they call, refuse to go through the security questions, they can't go further than that, or for more drastic action, change your number. Either way, you don't have to talk to them if you don't want to, never forget that.
Don't forget to get in your claim against NWB for the charges they have added to your account, since the whole balance including interest is made up of charges, it will be easy to work out.
Good luck to you.
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
Re: Rather than kill me, I decided to kill the banks
Well done on taking control. I hope things work out for you.
When they kept calling me i would answer by saying,
" Hold on, i will go and get him for you "
I would then put the phone down on the side, and go off and do something else, leaving them waiting.
They soon give up calling.
.
I Wish you everything you wish yourself.

Re: Rather than kill me, I decided to kill the banks
You are on the winning side now, banks make peoples life a misery with their bullying tatics. As you know you are back in control, I know what you are going through, I hid all our debts from my husband. It is only when you start to think straight and realise that it not actually your fault then you feel you can open up. I wish you luck for the future HF
Re: Rather than kill me, I decided to kill the banks
Good for you! You've turned a situation that a lot of people would have either been broken by or given in to, into a sign of hope. These banks wonder why they're going bust, well treating customers in this way is hardly going to boost their reputations is it.
Let them take you to court, just make sure to keep paying and that WILL go massivly in your favor in front of a judge, who would probably only order you to keep up with your currant level of repayment if that. The banks stand to lose a lot by taking people to court in this climate. Try to keep going bankrupt as a last resort. I'm glad you haven't done this yet as it proves you are standing up for your rights and not giving in to bully tactics.
Judges are getting wise to their tricks now, and more & more cases go in favor of the customer.
Re: Rather than kill me, I decided to kill the banks
I have taken the same attitude. Firstly, I asked all my credit card lenders for our original agreements. Nothing. Then I wrote to them and said I couldn't pay the minimum repayments anymore as my business was reduced by 80% (due to them entirely); sent three financial statements (two to RBS and Tesco Credit Card via the post) and one via the telephone to MBNA. Telephoned RBS and Tescos to agree a repayment plan as they had ignored me. I thought it had been agreed but all that came through the post were a lot of threats. MBNA have set a debt collection agency on me.
Telephoned Office of Fair Trading as I believe its a CCA and DPA issue. Office of Fair Trading say its nothing to do with them and to certain questions said "no comment". Do these people seem to forget they work for us?
Have you noticed how the banks are very fond of pushing you onto the fos? Partly the reason I have these debts which I cannot now clear is because Citibank filed illegal default notice on CRA's which, in turn, made other lenders push my interest rates up and overdraft down. FOS were worst than useless. Reading through - its seems similar to everyone else's problems. If you've got through this I'd be grateful for your advice.
