Could anyone give me some advice on PPI I have on a Lloyds TSB credit card. I believe I've had the card for around 9-10 years and I know it sounds silly, but I can't remember how I applied for it and exactly how long I've had it. Probably why I'm in a mess now financially, always lived for today and never worried about tomorrow, well that has changed!! The PPI has niggled me for years. When I first saw it on the statement I couldn't remember ever been asked if I wanted it or remember even ticking a box. I just assumed I had to have it to have the card?!? Because with every other loan or card I have taken out, when offered I've always refused PPI's
Question 1, If proved mis-sold can I claim for the total period I have the card or is it for a certain number years
Question 2, Is sending off a Subject to Access request the 1st thing to do?
Question 3, When I get the information back, what should I be looking for?
Sorry if these questions seem a little simple, but I not that clued up on PPI.
Question 1 - in theory if you can prove you were missold the PPI or that it was added without your agreement then you should be able to request a refund of all the charges plus interest - but be prepared for a fight
question 2 - you only really need to see the agreement so a CCA request is the cheaper option £1. However they may not have the original agreement.
If there are things like late payment fees and overlimit fees then a SAR is worth it as you should get all of that information back as well - although again they probably won't go back the full 10 years. CC PPI you should just be able to cancel with a phone call
Question 3 - ermmm depends whethe you go with the SAR or CCA - a full SAR that is used by the PPI bods will however give you just about everything they hold on you SO if you were going to look at charges etc on other accounts that you may have wiht Lloyds then do this so you only pay 1 £10
If you send a SAR rrequest in send it to the compliance team at the Chatham adress - they seem to be a bit shaper
If you can keep you head when all of those around you are losing theirs try parking your helicopter somewhere else
Thanks Redvixan for the reply. I think I'll go with the SAR and having read alot on this site I did wonder if they will have my original CA. Funny enough I got this months statement through today and there is was the PPI. It's really hacking me off the more I think about it. As I said before I always refused PPIs in the past, whenever offered and would have on this card if I had been asked. Just can't remember how I applied for card, but, definitely know I didnt tick a box.!!
Have roughly worked out if I was successful in claiming it back, it would just about clear balance. Oh and I know i'm in for a fight.!!
