Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Can anyone help with this one please?
I was on a reduced contract with sky where i was paying half price for 12 months. The contract ended on 31 dec 2008, so i contacted them by e-mail about 2 weeks before to say i wanted to cancel my contract,(was hopeing to get same deal again).I got an e-mail back saying someone would telephone me but nobody did so i thought stuff them, my contract had ended i was not locked in, i forgot about it. On the 16th of jan they cancelled my service so i thought fine they will get in touch for me to pay for the 16 days as i was not in a contract.
How wrong was i. I am now looking at a bill for £95.04 and a debt collection letter from Wescot.
they haven't taken any cancellation from you via the email.
they have blocked you due to non payment so i take it you payment due dates were 2nd of each month. The billing you have will charge you til 01/2 but from the amount dependant on the packge even if you were on full price it would seem more than 2 months.
Can you break the bill down?
If you still have the email saying they would contact you, I would send a copy of that email along with your original email to say you have already requested cancellation. Although I have never heard where they would say someone would call call when you send an email.

Dear Mr ******
Thank you for your email regarding your Sky account.
Further to your email, I apologise that I didn't make the call back you requested as I did not receive your email until today.
I would be obliged if you could supply us with a convenient time to contact you between 12:00 and 20:00 Monday-Friday.
I'd suggest you forget hte phone calls. WRITE, saying you terminated by email on XX/XX/XX and say you look forward to your bills being recalculated. The only reason they want to speak with you is to talk you into staying with possible further offers. If you want them, fine - if not use the post!
