Default PCN - 8 minutes late...

Can anyone please offer advice - just received a pcnicon from a MET parking services re a shopping centre car park. I bought a ticket which expired at 8.27pm and was issued with PCN at 8.35pm and now required to pay £100 within 28 days or £50 in 14 days - is there any way to challenge due to the short amount of time overstayed ?? Thanks

You must understand that this is a private parking company managing private land and that there is no provision in law for them to issue penalties as there is for the Police/Local Authorities. You do not have to challenge this ticket, simply ignore. However, you could calculate the cost of the 8 min in parking fees and send them that amount of money - that would be fair reimbursement for the loss they encountered through your breach of contract. So 5p would probably do lol - they will threaten you with all sorts but all you have to know is that the threats have no legal basis, are empty and often lies.

If you get a proper parking penalty from an LA/Police always appeal or pay it, if you get one from a PPC ignore it - its hot air.

    Hope that helps,

    TFT
