just got a letter through claiming i owe £130 in council tax arrears. it states that this is transferred debt, does anyone know what this means, phoned up the council debt department and they claim this is just what the computer calls it which has left me completely unconvinced. i was in full time employment living with 2 foreign students and was sure i had paid the bill in full. could this bill be for one of the stundents who was in fulll time employment before his course started 9 the dates match). he has now returned home and i suspect not paid his bill?

They transferred it from me, I didn't feel like paying it.

A typically stupid council answer. Ask them again what it is for and don't leave without an answer. The computer don't call it anything except what was put in it.

If you don't get a resonable reply, then you should send a sar (£10) and you will get back everything they have on you.

Hi robo2. if like you said, you paid the bill in full, then whether someone was living with you or not doesn't matter. or, did you each pay an amount which should have equalled the full amount ?

Please note that although my advice is offered, you should consult your legal representative before taking ANY action.
