Another quick enquiry Last year me and my gf moved in to a flat (in a purpose built block) and bought from the managing agents, via our letting agents two parking permits that were valid indefinately allowing us to park our vehicles on the site. Recently, all of the passes have been cancelled and re-issued; however, the managing agent refuses to renew ours saying that only two should have been sold to the landlord (we are only tenants) in the first instance. As we paid for the passes on the basis that they could be used forever can we sue in the county court under breach of contract. Basically, we have paid a reasonable amount for the passes and now having nothing to show for that investment.

There must be a cancellation policy for the permits because if they are 'forever' people could move away and still be able to park using their permis despite no living there?

G&M, you have hit the nail on the head here, there is no cancellation policy and ex residents using their permits to park has been a common problem.
I have looked through the tenancy agreement, every bit of paperwork I have and there is no mention of parking at the site.

How much did you pay, how long have you had them and how much are the new permits?
What does it actually say on your permit as well?
About £40, around 10 months. The new permits are free as they are meant to be a direct replacement of the old ones, but £20 for a replacement.
It has the location, valid from date (beginning of 08, no expiry date and thats about it, oh and the name of the PPC.
They're pretty rubbish to be honest, something my 7 year old niece could make lol

What will they do if you just continue to display the old ones?
What do you have in writing to show that access to a space has been withdrawn?
If we continue to display the old ones we will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (this is what the PPC call them), I know they're just tarted up invoices.
I do not have anything in writing; however, I could get this without too many problems.

yes this is correct. My point is that if the managing agents have issued permits in breach of their policy then why should my gf and I have to lose our money - we were conned basically.

When they put them on your windscreen they are in little yellow and black chequered pouches which say PENALTY CHARGE NOTICE. As you say, this is illegal. I thought that they were only allowed to call them parking charge notices?
