Barclaycard cancelled my PPI in 2004 without my knowledge
Hi all
I need help and direction on what approach I should take with Barclaycard as they cancelled my PPI in 2004 without my knowledge? and now I been made redundant and may need to claim I'm kinda concerned that they are going to run rings around me.
The one thing I do know is that I never requested it to be cancelled that's for sure.
Many Thanks
Scrapper Coco

Re: Barclaycard cancelled my PPI in 2004 without my knowledge
Hi all can someone help me out on this as something's not right and now I'm getting threats from Mercer.
They failed with the CCA request and sent terms and conditions only. Then they failed on the CPR I sent them, but I got back my SAR this morning, but their letter stated the following:
Further to your recent request for personal information held by Barclaycard, please find enclosed a copy of the card statements you have requested.
This information we have enclosed relating to this account is all that we hold.
So no CCA, CPR just statements and nothing more etc etc.
What should I do next as they have already told me on the phone that I had payment protection insurance on this card until 2004 and then it was cancelled, but I never cancelled it and they can't tell me what happened. As I'm now unemployed it would have come in very handy indeed. They seemed to have missed this large detail out of the Subject access request. Me wonders if it's for a very good reason, like they have messed up.
Help me please.
Thanks

Re: Barclaycard cancelled my PPI in 2004 without my knowledge
Yes I do and this all came to light when I lost my job and called up about the PPI only to be told that it had been cancelled in 2004, but they don't know why. I know I didn't cancel it that's for sure. That is why I sent the SAR to see if their was any detail on who and why it was cancelled, but all the have sent me is the following:
Further to your recent request for personal information held by Barclaycard, please find enclosed a copy of the card statements you have requested.

So that doesn't shed any light on the matter either.
Not having a job and the thought I being protected was a huge relief until they sprung that on me and now I'm not in a position to pay them a dime as only on benefits and I'm buggered if they are getting any of my redundancy because of what I believe is their error not mine
Thanks

Ask them to provide all DATA as it was a Subject access request not a statement request. That should include perhaps why the PPI was changed and i mean the exact date.
Re: Barclaycard cancelled my PPI in 2004 without my knowledge
Thanks yourbank
I will do this first thing in the morning. I know I wouldn't of cancelled it as I've always had protection on any agreement I've had due to seeing so many people get laid off over the years having worked in the City (London) for 24yrs. It's always nice to know you have a backup plan just in case and when I call on it I find out it's been withdrawn and nobody can tell me by who. Very Very Strange.
Thanks

Re: Barclaycard cancelled my PPI in 2004 without my knowledge
am not sure what I can advise because you haven't paid for PPI on the card for 5 years and so therefore the question should be what you want the company to do? Are you claiming state benefits(as that is at least one of the criteria if you could claim on it)?
Re: Barclaycard cancelled my PPI in 2004 without my knowledge
I want them to start paying the PPI which I was paying for about 10yrs and still thought I was paying for the last 5yrs. Under their terms they pay a max of 10% per month so after 6-7 months a zero balance and thank you Barclaycard.
The reason I never noticed is because they just used to take it monthly and to be honest I never really bothered checking my statements and just paid them every month.
I need to find out who and why it was cancelled and the statements they have sent don't go back as far as 2004 so I can't even see when they stopped taking it. And even if they did send me all of them I couldn't read them anyway as it's just a big black printout of a mess.
Yes on benefit, but only job seekers cause after 24yrs of paying tax and NI and because my wife earns about £1.50 more than she should I'm entitled to nothing else at all. This doesn't affect PPI payments though.
I have queried this with them and can't get a straight answer from anybody. Just think it's strange that's all
Thanks

If you owe the bank £10,000 you are in big trouble. If the bank owes £10,000,000,000 they get the Government to bail them out with our money and we are still in big trouble.
Anyone reckon I get away with setting a DCA on the banks for my tax money back? lol
