    Default Amending SCS Order

We ordered a rather nice corner unit from SCS this afternoon (Sun 22 Feb). When we got home, we thought we'd better check the measurements and we'd made quite an error. I'll admit it was a mistake on our part. The sofa will fit in the room, but it's going to look silly and take up far too much space.

Now, we've picked out another corner unit from their website and we're going to try and get the order changed. The agreement does say that orders cannot be cancelled but can be amended within 7 days. I am planning on going in tomorrow, which will be less than 24hrs since the order was placed.

There is also no guidelines as to what limit the amendments can include, but seeing as we'd be purchasing a different corner suite from them and being so soon after the order was placed, I'm hoping they'll see sense and be nice about it.

There is one card up my sleeve that might be played shoul they get awkward. The order was completed, deposit paid and finance agreed but we didn't have any ID on us. Utility bill, bank statement etc. They said bring one in or fax them it. So technically, the order isn't 100% complete.

Anybody know what our chances are in this?

I cant see any problem, you could even cancell the order if they become difficult.

Advice is based on my personal opinion, and what I have learnt from this forum.

I went in and they were happy. We switched the order to another corner unit with an armchair and saved £50 to boot too.

However, you cannot cancel the order and they make it very clear before you sign. It's also made very clear in the agreement rather than being buried in some obscure clause in the smallprint.

Anyway, we're happy because we got furniture that won't look too big for the room and they're happy because they still got a sale. Hurrah all round I think.
