Thread: BT Broadband & phone problem

Hiya all hoping someone can give me some pointers i have bt 8mb and its very slow i had an engineer out 2 mths ago which was a waste of time as he was not a broadband engineer anyway he checked the line and said it was noisy so changed the master socket now 2mths on it is still noisy while it rings and also the internet connection drops plus is slow when it does work oh and my mums phone upstairs no longer works any ldeas and how do i get a broadband engineer to call is there a number i can call to bypass the indian call centre THANKS

the interfeirnce might be coming from the upstairs box if it is possible on the master socket downstairs if it has 2 screws either side. (u wont get a shock or anything) remove them thir is a test sockt plug your dsl filter into this and run internt this way for few days see if this improves.if it does thir is a fault upstairs.

Hi I have tried the above and this can point to where the problem lies. If your speed improves then the problem lies within the house phone wiring if not then the problem is external. In my case at approx 11am I was getting speeds of 2100 after removing the main socket front and using the test socket I was getting speeds of up to 5400 even at 6pm when speed was down to 1200 I then got average of 2100

I have tried this and it makes no differance what is so strange though soon as the phone rings the broadband is disconnected i get the Bt page up it will not recover until the phone call has ended.

if the ADSL disconnects when phone rings then you either have a phone connected WITHOUT an adsl filter or a FAULTY filter

every phone , fax or answer-machine must have a filter in front of it
