    Default LHA help-confused.

    Hi,
I am in the process of making an application for LHA .
They just have to pick up my tenancy agreement this week and said they will be processing it and should take 2 days roughly.

Now here is what I am unsure on,when the person filled out the form(he came to the house) he asked had I claimed housing benefit before.

I answered no because I took it to mean had I been receiving the benefit in the past at any other address.
It had date of claim and had you informed the borough that you moved so I assume that the question meant had you been receiving it before?

It was only after he had gone I wondered if I had answered correctly.
At our old home 3 years ago we did apply for housing benefit but it was rejected due to too much WTC I was told.
Also we had just months before had to sell our house(not the one where we submitted application) but had no capital from the sale,it was forced to pay off heavy debts.

Did I answer correct on the form last week?
I have gotten myself into a worry about it.
If it was rejected 3 years ago then it wasn't a claim as it was never processed or am I wrong?
Sorry to be so long winded,we have never had to deal with benefits before and are lost with it all.

Mant thanks for reading this far.

Now I could be totally wrong on this but I think it could be due to fraud prevention that they ask that question but it shouldn't be too hard to tell them about your mistake. Even though you were turned down, you should have stated that you applied but were turned down.

I'd contact the housing benefits section to let them know and maybe explain your error. Better safe than sorry eh!

    Thanks for the reply
    You are right.
I honestly thought it wasn't relevant to mention given that I never received anything and was rejected.
