Can anyone help with a pcn from WCC. Th eparking restriction stated 24 metres/ 4 Parking Bays. On examine the road there where no individual bay markings and pacing out the distance I estimated that I was over 25 metres from the start of the restriction. There were also another 5 cars between me and the end of the restriction, ie they must have been illegally parked as well. 4 weeks later I get a PCN stating that I was within the 24 metre restricted zone. I appealed but was turned down. I have since done a rough measurement with a metre ruler and my car might have encroached the zone by 12/18 inches. Is there any argument to use with the Appeal Service stating that it was impossible to judge accurately using one's own devices as the road markings were inconclusive? Is there another approach to use? Thanks
Can you take some pics of the parking bays, to include the end markings, what is written down the side of the bays, and signs at the side of the bays, and measure the width of the bays from the kerb edge to the outside of the lines.
And owt else which you think might help.
Even by your own admission - the fact the vehicle WAS into the 'zone' kinda ends the argument for a successful appeal. If you weren't there, or NOT having any part of your vehicle into it - it's worth fighting a battle for, but they'd get you because of the overhang.
What happened to other cars using the same area is immaterial, each appeal is based on its own merits - not what anyone else was doing at the time.

I think the (valid) point westwinds is making is that the 24mtrs was not clearly marked out. Unless they expect every driver to carry a tape measure, then it would seem reasonable that the start of teh restriction should be clearly maked on the road for all drivers to see.
