Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi all. I dont know if you class this as a win but am happy.
I had just over a £1700 balance with a couple of £100 worth of charges in it. I was 3 months behind in payments as i was struggling and i made an offer to them of £700 to clear the account. Initially they refused. So i rang back and said that i cant make any payments on the account and would be claiming bankruptcy as i have alot of debt. I advised them i have only made an offer to them as they were the only creditor willing to help me with my debt (note my parents were going to be paying the offer for me). They took income and expenditure details again which only left me with a disposible income of about £60. The lady came back to me and it had been accepted. Am sure i could have got away with £500 but no point being greedy, just grateful i have 1 less stress.
I am over the moon as they were the only credit card comp that had my CCA so was legally bound.
I do need to mention i only said i was going to claim bankruptcy as when i said i wanted a short settlement they did a credit search and saw how much debt i had as i have a loan. I wouldnt advise someone to try this if they dont have alot of debt as it will backfire and probably spoil it for others.
