Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I am about to embark on a PPI claim against Welcome Finance, apart from the PPI policy, there are also two other insurance policys hooked on this loan :
1st Person LIfecare 24
1st Person Personal Accident Plan
Can I also claim these back ?
The agreement was made on July 08 and I was on sick leave at the time and had made them aware of this.
Also should I make this claim myself or use a no fee , no fee compay.
Helen, I too am embarking on the same thing for all 3 'insurances' - to give you a heads up Welcome will normally ignore all correspondance with you on this so make sure everyhting you send to them is recorded delivery. Do not have any communication on the phone about this as they lie and b/s you about stuff so unless you can record it don't bother. In my case i complained over 12 months ago and they did not respond to any of my complaints including a special access request which they are legally bound to provide within 40 days 5 months later I have still not recieved this. In the end I filed in small claims court and am due to take this to the judge in March - just out of interest have you received any documents or policy about these insurances?
In order to complaint to FSA about this you need to have gone to Welcome first - the only thing is the FSA won't consider a complaint without a final letter from Welcome saying they do not accept mis-selling. In my instance Welcome have not bothered to respond and this is why I had to go to court to reclaim - it cost me £75 to file it but it'll be well spent if i can get my £2000 back
I'm not sure how these reclaim companies work but i assume the y charge you a fee for it - it's easy enough to do on your own but can be a little fustrating when they don't respond and fob you off. I think it comes down to personal preference and whether you want to pay someone to do it for you.
Again out of interest do you have a policy booklet or anything like that saying who provides these policies and t&c's etc??

I cant find any policy booklets ? But I think there might still be some paperwork in the drawer.
I have my original loan agreement and statement of price-breakdown showing the three policys I have, which come to £2,300 ( inc interest )
The information I have on using PPI claim companys is as follows :
If you're claiming back over £5000 then there are no fees because legal costs are awarded, but under £500 there is a % charge which varies according to which company you use.
I would say if it's over the £5000 then go for it as long as if you don't win yoiu don't have to pay them - if not then it'll probably save you some hassle.
The reason I ask about the policy booklet etc is there of plenty of people on here that have never actually received anything regarding these insurances namely who provide them etc and Welcome are not being very forthcoming with the information in my case so was trying to track down if anyone else knew which company was supposed to be providing them
I think they would stall with anyone and make is as difficult as possible. It'd prob be less hassle for you with a company doing it for you -it may still take as long and just depends if you wanna give up a percentage of your money to them.
How do I lump the other two policys ( 1st Person Lifecare 24 & 1st Person Personal Accident Plan ) with the main PPI one when I write the inital claim letter ?

Can anyone advise on that for me.
Can anyone help me answer this ? I am unable to process with the claim until I can clarify this issue.
