Hi, today my gf's dad bought around a freeview box that was his but he couldn't get reception on as he suspects he was outside the area(?), i had previously put our postcode into a freeview post code checker and it said that we couldn't receive it...however, i have a friend who lives 2 doors away who also tried his post code in there and it also said that he wasn't able to receive freeview and yet he can(he has a freeview box built into his tv-any difference do you think?) Iv tried the box and apparently there is no signal, i plugged the tv aerial into the box and the scart from the box into the tv, is that all i need to do please? The Freeview menu came up but it just said there was no signal! any ideas please?
If you are using a set-top aerial then you might as well forget it. You will need to use a properly installed TV aerial, preferably on the roof.
Aerial lead into F/V box.
RF lead from F/V box to TV (for terrestrial reception).
Scart lead from F/V box to TV.
The fact that you are seeing the freeview menu proves that all the connections are OK.
You need to access the setup menu then set the box to search for channels.
Can't be specific because different manufacturers do things differently.
If you still have trouble, you can PM me with your postcode and area and I will check it out for you. DON'T POST YOUR POSTCODE ON THE THREAD, FOR SECURITY REASONS!
Have you got the user's instruction book? That will tell you exactly how to set it up. If not, let me know make and model No of the box and I'll see if I can find any info for you.

Hi my postcode say no freeview coverage checked with local shop they say we have freeview though you need correct type of aerial to receive signal he sold us freeview box said if unable to receive signal he would fit new aerial at cost. We tried freeview box got no signal rang him he fitted new aerial that was pointing at a different signal (tv mast) now works 100% ok.
