unfair charges on an unplanned overdraft with Lloyds Tsb
The situation is that i am in my first year of university and when i went to university a cheque was cashed that fell £2.00 short of the account balance. i was given an 'unplanned overdraft' where i incurred nearly £350 worth of charges, i wasn't made aware of any of these charges because i was using my student account which is held in an entirely different bank and thought the cheque had already been cashed weeks earlier. so i assumed the account had stayed inactive until i was forwarded money from home to get home for christmas. Obviously, they took that money and i was forced to borrow off of a friend.
when i got home i payed off the charges, putting enough money in my account to cover both what i owed and the charges that i would incurr in january. sorted. so i thought
Febuary 2nd, they decided that i owe another £167.76 or something of charges which i occurred in the month of december, which i was not made aware of when i was told about further charges in January. when i pay these off, Using my overdraft i will have accumlated nearly £500 worth of charges over that original £2, it might not be a lot compaired to some. But for me that's 10 weeks worth of living expenses.
I have written two letters thus far and have heard nothing; should i pay these charges and close the account before recieving correspondance from them or should i wait it out?
