My daughter had a blocked drain and council came out and jetted it.

Cost £50.

They couldn't shift the blockage and told her it was blocked just inside the boundary line and was her responsibility.

She had builder round today to fix the blockage and when he dug up drains he found them all clear and the problem was under the street near the main sewer.

I called out United Utilities who jetted the blockage and all was clear. This was the problem all along.

She has had to pay the builder £350 for his labour and materials for a job that didn't need doing.

My question is can she make any claim against council for the £350 giving that they gave her duff information where the blockage was?

Thanks in advance.

I would bill them for the builder and accept nothing less than they cost. They made the cock up and it was on their territory so you shouldn't pay a penny.

Why didn't you call the council back when you found it was in the street, I doubt you will be entitled to a refund of the UU bill.
