Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
On the weekend I was given a parking ticket for stopping in a loading bay. I was delivering something to a friend (heavy bookcase) but have no documentary evidence to support this. However the pcn said I was in contravention of code 23 - "Parked in a parking place or area not designated for that class of vehicle". Now the sign accompanying the bay clearly stated "Loading only, Mon - Sat, 9.30 AM - 5.00 PM, 30 mins, No return within one hour". There is no mention of goods vehicles loading only, so how can my car have been the wrong class of vehicle? The timing on the ticket was for a period of 5 minutes so it isn't accusing me of staying for longer than 30 minutes. Can I appeal this on the grounds that I am being charged with something which isn't in contravention of the regulations for that loading space?
