Hi folks I'm needing some advice about where to go next with the problems I am having with Barclaycard.
Towards the end of last year my card creeped over the limit and I was unfortunate enough to lose my job before I could bring it back into check. I've been in constant contact with BC trying to get them to understand my present situation but all I get is the same routine - "pay us so much and you'll be okay until your next bill". I've also been given the run around by asking to speak to someone with whom I can arrange something till I get back in work, being told it would be passed on to the relevent person, then recieving a letter saying they want to help with the normal call centre number on it and the normal demands for payment. It feels like they are actively trying to prevent me from doing anything other than dealing with the call centre.
This week I sent a recorded delivery letter saying that due to hardship I can only pay £10 per month. At the same time - though not as a result of my letter sent the same day they have sent me a letter marked "Request for Payment". There's no legal jargon on it at all about time limits like a proper official threat should have so I assume it's a scare. They have the cheek to ask me to call them if I am in financial trouble at the bottom.
I'm now getting the hourly robo-calls and texts which is just pure harrasment.
Anyway the card was taken out under Morgan Stanley in 2005 so I am thinking the best thing to do considering the fact that they are completely ignoring my plight and actively trying to bully me into paying money I don't have is to CCA them and try and have the debt declared unenforceable.
Is this the best thing for me to do? I must have told them six times I'm in financial hardship and I still get the same routine. I've went £300 over my limit with charges now - they even added £100 to my balance after I asked for advice. I'm refusing to deal with them by phone.
Do you have statements for the a/c so you can work out how much you've been charged in penalties over the last 6 years. Reclaiming these could reduce the amount owed on the a/c and maybe even stop the downward spiral of charges each month.

I've got the statements where the charges have been levelled against me. It's completely spiralled in the last two months actually. In November I paid around £130 out of my last salary and it honestly had next to no impact on what I owed. I really wish I hadn't done that now.
Dealing with BC on the phone is like a Franz Kafka novel. A waking nightmare. I never had any problems with Morgan Stanley who had a proper call centre and procedures but BC are just a faceless mob.

Cancelling it going forward should be a formality.
If you aren't able to claim on it then perhaps it was mis-sold to you? If you add up all the payments you have made for insurance plus interest it is going to be a big sum of money that you might be able to reclaim back off the total they say you owe.
