Hi,
Went shopping on Sundaqy for a new mattress and ended up in Benson's buying a very nice mattress and also a bedstead (which we weren't intending on buying orginally).
Well short story is that the bedstead doesn't fit ... at all. This is our fault as we didn't measure and realyl only bought it to push our case for a decent discount on the mattress. We bought there and then in cash and delivery is slated for mid-Feb.
Ideally we'd like to cancel the purchase of the bedstead and just get the mattress if we can still have the same discount. If that's not possible then we'd like to cancel the entire purchase as we'd already stretched the budget on the mattress when it was discounted and can't realistically consider it at regular price.
So far they've offered to change the bedstead for another model though none of the other models appeal either in style and also dimensions (I hadn't realised just how compact our current one is!) or they'll cancel the bedstead but we lose the discount on the mattress. They refuse completly to consider cancelling of the entire order. So none of these options suit us.
Are there any suggestions as to where we stand with them or how we might approach the issue. From looking around other store sites many offer a cooling-off period (that's mandatory for web-sites I understand but we've been verbally guarrenteed it in other stores - Furniture Village being an example).
So far our dealings with them have been okay so I'm disappointed that they seem to be feel fine about having sold us something we don't want and can't really use.
Thnaks for any help / suggesstions - impulse buying is a dangerous thing :/
