Hi, I Have an on going Row with Cabot and Barclay card. If I give you a brief out line on what has happened could someone tell me what I should go for, as in, striking the debt off altogether or just a recliam on payments. I just need to know what will be the most likey out come so i know where to point my letter towards.
I waso benefits when Barclays offered me a credit card. Not a huge amount, repayments seemed reasonable so I snatched thier hand off, I was young. I took out the payment protection plan if for what ever reason I could't afford the repayments. I since got a job and was quickly made reduntant. I had kids to feed, money was tight as the company I worked for never paid me my last wage packet, I was getting behind with everything. I did use my card after Istopped working. When I approached the bank and explained my situation, they said that the insurance I had taken out was now void because I had used it after I knew I wasn't working any more, but Barclays still continued to take the monthly payment on the account that had now not been paid for a couple of months.
The row with Cabot has been going on for a year now and I don't really feel I am so much to blame. The original debt was £1880 and the interest Cabot have put on has taken it up to £2670. Barclays have refunded my charges for over limit and late payments to Cabot not me on the default account. Cabot have an erratic interest rate to say the least The interest on y account goes up and down! They have not shown the £56 + 8% interest Barclays have refunded and dropped all the interest at one piont while they were trying to get the CCA fro Barclays which Cabot have proptley put back on when they sent me my application form for the card Through.
I just feel like I have hit a wall an need someones advice who has been here already. Sorry its so long but thanks for taking the time to look.

You took out ppi when you were on benefits, were you working at all?????
The application form that they sent you for the account, does it have all the prescribed terms relating to the consumer credit act 1974.
Have you cancelled the ppi on the card?????????
Have you a thread on the debt forum?????????

Hi, I realised I was stupid. No I was not working. They told me that if I should ever get into money trouble this would cover the payments. I didn't cancel the PPI I was trying to deal with it through the bank, I didn't know at the time I could fight it. The account was last acknowledged by me in 2003. Yes, I have thread on the debt forum and acted on advice but like I say I feel I have hit a wall. I am aware that my acknowedgement of this debt was 6 years agao but we are still communicating, can I still go for statue barred? I have not made a payment. There is a print out of terms and conditions for the card but not the ppi. Before I requested these I wante to get and ieda of wether it would be worth going for. The application form they sent back is so dificult to read I really couldn't tell you what it says. The debt is now with Cabot, only they are now putting interest on.
Thanks for taking the time to read and get back to me.
