Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
i thought I would share an experience I had with Abbey National last month.
5 Months before that I had gone overdrawn by £20.22p, unaware I just ignored it as the charges racked up to a total owed of £297. One day I get a letter from the collections agency asking for £20.22p.
I call up and here is what the woman said;
"I cannot comment on it, the only things that get passed to us are debts of over £100, and after reviewing your account we realized 90% of the debt was charges, so we removed the charges and now it is just the initial debt you must repay"
So I paid the 20 quid and that was the end of it.
Thought I would share, anyone else had this experience of them just removing charges ?
Clearly they noticed that adding more charges was only likely to make me more unable to pay, so they would rather of had the initial 20 quid back/
