Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I received a letter from the local Labour council today regarding sole occupier discount. It states ominously and without explanation
'We have compared [this information] against independent records of recent financial activity and found another person associated with this address. The officer will explain the information when you call'
Does this mean the local commie council has been prying into my bank account? They go to work in their slippers and pry into people's bank accounts at huge expense to the taxpayer. What an bunch of totalitarian second-world zombies they are.
Occasionally letters for previous occupiers arrive here. This must be what they are talking about.
It is a saturday, so I can't ring them (I'm in half a mind not to), can somebody hazard a guess to what independent records of recent financial activity might refer to, as they left it in the air rather then explain in the letter?
Hi,
It's just possible that they have been checking your credit file.
A credit reference agency file sometimes show association with other people at the same address.
If anyone has moved out in the past year or so, that's possibly what it is.

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.
Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any advice given, you should see a qualified solicitor
If you choose to ignore them, your claim will not be processed.
As I see it, they have a duty to prevent fraud and protect tax payers money so all they are checking is whether you live alone or not as there is some confusion.
You live alone so don't worry. I think when they make initial contact by post, they can't give out too much information because of the Data Protection Act. Once your identity is confirmed, they should tell you all.
It may seem a bit big brother but all councils have this duty
