Default How hard it is to keep a promise when in debt :(

My daughter was 5 on saturday and for the past 2 years we have been promising her a birthday party. She never had one last year because we were evicted and the year before that she almost died and was in hospital over her birthday. This year we promised her a party and she has been so excited for months.
We decided to do it at the end of jan so that it give people more notice and also us more time to save, we booked the hall and the entertainer and have the invites ready to go. I was thinking everything was going fine as neither needed to be paid for until the day.
I have just had a text from my landlord to say that he is not willing to wait any longer for the arrears to be paid so we now have 2 weeks to find £1000 . The only way we can pay is to have to cancel her party . I have been looking at payday loansicon so that we can pay for her party as its going to cost about £200 for everything and then pay them back but I know that we wont have any money to even pay that and the interesticon is so high that it would be almost £400 to pay back!!

I cant wait to get things sorted and was really hoping that this year would be better. The kids had a great christmas with the help of some wonderful people off here and although my daughter is very understanding I dont want to let her down. Just ahd another load of DCAicon letters through the door today but cant face opening them as I'm feeling really down as it is.

I'm sorry to vent on here but its the only place that I feel i'm not judged as a bad parent for not being able to do things for the kids.

    Hi Vikki,

Just because you can’t do everything for your children doesn’t mean you’re a bad parent!

Your child will feel happy and safe in the knowledge that you love her and no amount of money spent on her will change that fact.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but £200 is a lot of money to be spending on a 5 year olds party.

Children (especially younger children) can be quite content with a little birthday party at home with a few friends and this can be easily achieved for a lot less than £200.

Don’t beat yourself up because you haven’t got the money to do everything you’d like to for your child, she’ll still love you!

    Kind Regards

    Mrs Z

I know where your coming from but as we have 4 children and this was something that was promised for 2 years she has been feeling left out. We had a very low budjet birthday for her because of the party and now I just feel so bad about it.
