Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have a set-top box which I bought about 18-20 months ago and it has now packed up.
I Emailed someone at Sagem and they sent me the Tech desk number which I phoned and after try this and try that as it was on his little flip chart (This was after I told them that the red light stays very dim and will not turn on )
I was told that as it was over a year they cant do anything and I pointed out that I would expect it to last longer than 18-20 months
I'm going to Email the person back and point out that I expect the product to last and see what Sagem will do.
Has anyone had problems like this or any Ideas on what to point out to Sagem?

Well after sending a reminder email to Sagem got a reply today after asking what they could do about the set-top box and the fact it should have lasted longer than 18-20 months it did last.
Heres the reply I got and I dont think they do customer service very well
Good afternoon,
I am sorry to inform you that we can only offer technical advice on this matter. Unfortunately we can not exchange your unit as IT IS OUT WARRANTY. Should you wish to seek repair on the unit , please take it to a local repair shop.
Thank you

And I think she meant to say " ITS OUT OF WARRANTY" but hey you cant get the staff and I would have to give SAGEM 0/10 for customer service.
Now as I bought it from Argos would they under the "Sales of goods" have a duty to replace this?
I'm not up on the Act but going to see what I can find on the T/S site but any advice would be welcome
Welly

How much was it about £30? I think you may have a case but TBH I would probably just go buy another one of a different make theyre so cheap now. It just depends if you want to fight the principle for something so cheap I would probably just buy another one myself but good luck with it either way
Of course if argos still sell the same model you could buy one and swap them over and return the faulty one, HOWEVER that is not my advice it's illegal and underhanded.
You should approach the store that sold it to you. They are liable under the sale of goods act to repair it/replace it or refund part or all of the purchase price.

I would never think of doing such a thing:o and it has never crossed my mind and yes still do the same model and it was £50 when I got it but will probably buy a Asda one as they seem ok.
Its just down to do I accept the fact that we in this country just sit back and pay out money so we dont make a fuss and let company's get away with selling Items that last less than 2 years.
But then again Its one way to keep you buying more
But at this is a consumer site then I think it's worth just seeing what the customer services are like and will still see what Argos will do;-)
