    Default Cahoot Bank Account

I have tried to reclaim charges from Cahoot for excessive fines etc - I have had to use my overdrafticon after being out of work & because of continued charges it is almost impossible to get out of it. So i decided to send them a nice email...this is the response.

    Dear Mr. Bolton,

Thank you for contacting cahoot in Coventry.

We do not accept that cahoot charges are unfair under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999. The object of these Regulations was not price control nor were they intended to interfere with people's freedom to agree the terms of their contracts.

It is well known that banks make charges and cahoot charges are in line with those of other banks. The terms and conditionsicon of the account and the charges that apply are clear and fair and were provided to you at the time you opened it. You freely agreed to the terms and conditionsicon and the charges when you opened the account. You were not under any obligation to do so and could have gone to another bank if you did not agree to the charges. Equally, you are free to move your account to another bank at any time if you do not agree with the charges.

In any event, we do not agree that the charges are disproportionate. The charges are reasonable and proportionate to the administrative costs incurred by cahoot.

I can also advise you that there has not been any ruling to state that any fees that bank apply to a customers account are unlawful.

I am therefore unable to refund the charges you've incurred fully appreciating the disappointment this may cause.

Please be assured I have carried out a full investigation for you. I hope you feel I have offered a fair response to all of the issues you raised. If you remain unhappy, you may refer your concerns to the Abbeyicon Central Complaints Team within 8 weeks, the address to contact is

What do people make of this? I am still getting charged £35 for being overdrawn!

    Thoughts please???

    Hi, gazbolts73.

Usual claptrap from Cahoot, you now need to take it to the next stage, send them a letter before actionicon, giving them 14 days to comply then file at your local county courticon.

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...RD-letter.html

They will stall you as long as they can, court action seems the only way they will listen. Your claim will more than likely be 'stayed' but at least you will be in the 'system' and you never know they may make you an offer.

    Regards.

    Scott.
