Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi everyone I am new to this forum, but looking forward to hearing your advice.
I recieved a ticket last night and want to know whether it's worth challenging it.
I parked on a single yellow line, in between about 10 other cars, all of which was on this line too.
There was a parking meter, that we went to pay at. When we got there we realised that no other cars in the street had payed at the meter as they didn't have a time ticket displayed in their window. Displayed on the parking meter was the words 'no parking' and '19.12.08'. Above the meter was a sign saying you had to 'pay and display' between 8am and 5pm.
As it was the 18.12.08 and 7.30pm, and the fact that no other cars around had 'pay and display' tickets, we were under the impression that we didn't have to pay.
When we came back to our car at 9.20pm, we saw that our and every other car on the street had a parking ticket from the City Council.
On it says we have to pay £35 within 14 days, or £70 thereafter.
Due to the fact that we we genuinely thought we didn't have to pay, and not due to arrogance, have we got a chance in having this ticket dismissed?
