Thread: Parking Ticket with wrong reg on it.....

Good morning all.

I picked up a parking ticket yesterday and was a little gutted due to it being £50 and not the areas normal £30. Anyway when i got home i looked at the ticket with more detail and i realised that the 2 numbers in the reg section of the ticket where completely wrong!!

Can i avoid paying this then as surly the information is incorrect?

What kind of ticket?

• police FPN
• council pcn
• private 'PCN'

I think its a private pcn as its from Euro Car Parks - would that make it private?

Probably (just make sure there's no mention of any council anywhere). If it's private, it's a [problem].

• do not contact them
• ignore all their letters (if they can find your address with the wrong reg number that is)
• ignore all their threats and lies about liability or court action
• they will give up and go away if you ignore them

Is that really the case? so this euro car parks company is a complete [problem]?

Well, the company's insistance that you somehow owe them £50 is a [problem]. Private companies have no powers to issue fines.

They're not going to tell you that though - they make their paperwork seem as official as possible, usually full of lies and hollow threats. It's a percentages game - for every person like you, they'll be another one who will just pay up without question. It's a good way to make money, if you're into [problem]ming.

The DVLA are in on it as well - they charge £2.50 per address as long as you have 'reasonable cause'. That means absolutely nothing though, hence why the DVLA make £6 million a year from the [problem].
